BCLC SAYS OPENBET SOFTWARE NOT TO BLAME (Update)

Assessment of security breach completed
More information was released Wednesday on the security breach which closed down the British Columbia Lottery Corporation's first venture into online gambling (see previous InfoPowa reports).
The Corporation advised interested parties that its investigation of the debacle had shown no culpability on the part of UK software provider Openbet, instead blaming the breach on an undetailed technical flaw on the PlayNow.com system.
The statement assured all concerned that once a solution has been achieved it will be verified by third party inspection.
The provincial government's Information and Privacy Commissioner, Elizabeth Denham, has said that she is conducting a seperate investigation, and that the BCLC will not be permitted to reactivate PlayNow.com until she is satisfied that the risk of further breaches has been obviated.
