APPEAL AGAINST NORTH CAROLINA SWEEPSTAKES LAW

Last ditch attempt to dissuade governor from signing new bill into state law.
North Carolina's ban on online sweepstake style gambling in internet cafes (see previous InfoPowa report) had a sequel this week as video gaming advocates appealed to state governor Bev Perdue to veto the new law, due to come into force on December 1st.
Local TV station WITN reports that the entertainment group's website currently carries the warning that if the bill becomes law it will "leave $500 million in possible new revenue on the table."
Other action groups throughout the state have warned that thousands of North Carolinans could be pushed into unemployment if the bill is allowed to become law.
